Spring 2025
Welcome to spring in Central Texas. The bluebonnets are gorgeous and if you love pollen then this is your time!
Along with a new season comes some new ideas and regulations that will change most industries in the U.S. and definitely the coffee industry.
The new tariff codes that have gone into effect will change the pricing of coffee and tea. Brokers have already made the adjustments to reflect the higher prices as well as adjusting for the weather issues that continue to affect the coffee growing regions.
It is a bit of a bermuda triangle and still very up and down so as of now we are adjusting prices as they change.
Right now, April 4, 2025, the coffees most affected with significant tariffs are Mexico, Indonesia and Nicaragua however, all coffees have a tariff attached now. At the same time, coffees globally are much higher in cost this year due to the weather conditions in Brazil and the coffee growing regions all over.
Brazil is the largest producer of coffee in the world with Vietnam coming in second. If Brazil has a drought or shortage then the global price of coffee rises and this is what has happened. Adding on the tariffs is an addition to the already extraordinary cost of coffee.
We continue to source the very best coffees available and look forward to sharing them with our community. As we know more about what to expect this year we will share it. I would love to have a crystal ball or some deep insight into what to expect but I don’t. I do know that we continue to roast and serve the very best coffee. Please let us know if you have questions or ideas!
Take care and remember to say hi to a stranger today.
